Asthma Zones
Target group: younger
- cards identifying the green, yellow and red asthma zones posted, as headings for asthma zones, on a display board
- strips of laminated asthma symptoms, with Velcro dots on the back to secure them to the display board
- The group is divided into 2 teams
- A representative for each team is asked to come up to the display board, one at a time.
- The facilitator asks them to choose one of the asthma symptom strips, which are face down, from the facilitator’s hand.
- The student reads aloud the asthma symptom and places it in the correctly coloured asthma zone on the display board.
- The students discuss the asthma symptom and determine whether everyone from that team agrees with the placement.
- If they have chosen the incorrect zone for the symptom the opposing team has a chance to steal the point, by correctly placing the asthma symptom under the correct zone
This idea came from the RAP instructors at Credit Valley Hospital, Ontario.
