Supplies: Several large coloured circles – red, yellow and green – scattered around the classroom
Activity
- The facilitator reads descriptions from the asthma zones such as:
- “I feel good”
- “I have lots of energy”
- “I am needing my reliever inhaler often”
- “I have trouble completing a full sentence without feeling short of breath”
- As the facilitator reads each symptom, the players run to the appropriate colour circle representing the asthma zone that suits the symptom being read.
- The facilitator initiates discussion after reading the symptom, such as actions to take when in this zone, etc.
This idea came from the Ontario Public Health School Asthma Project.
