Target group: active

Supplies: Pictures of triggers, scissors, string, glue, Hooks (paper clips, clothes pins or soft wire to hang the triggers on the string), Large area in which to play, i.e. soccer field or gymnasium.

Activity

  • Place equal number of trigger cards in a row on each side of the room using a table or line
  • Divide the group into two teams
  • Each team must try to get rid of all their triggers one at a time and throw them in the other team's trigger bin which is behind their line of triggers.
  • Walking only, each team will try to tag the carrier of the trigger
  • If caught running or tagged, the participant will have to go rest for pre-determined amount of time on side chairs
  • Once a trigger has been placed in the bin, the team shouts "rid the trigger!" and everyone has to freeze until the team has described how they got rid of the trigger
  • For example, if the team put the picture of the cat in the bin, they might state, keep out of house
  • If they cannot describe how they got rid of the trigger, it will be put back on their trigger line
  • The game will be completed when one team has no triggers. A time limit may also be set at the beginning of the game.
