Matching Game

Target group: younger

Supplies: cards with pictures of triggers on one side

Activity

  • Using the trigger cards, place all face down on a table.
  • Players take turns turning 2 cards over face up; hoping to find a match
  • As a player finds the “match” a discussion about what trigger takes place e.g. what it is, how to avoid it, trouble shooting etc.
  • Player with the most pairs at the end wins a prize

Other card games using Trigger Cards include:

  • Go Fish
  • Poker (older students) deal out 5 trigger cards and try to get a pair, 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind, full house

This idea came from the RAP instructors at Credit Valley Hospital,  Mississauga, ON and has been used in the Ontario Public Health School Asthma Project.
