- Trigger Chest
Trigger Chest
Target group: younger
Supplies: trigger chest filled with triggers
Activity
- Inside a treasure chest, different triggers are placed in individual, plastic, zip-loc bags (some are just pictures of triggers, such as emotions, temperature changes; some are real, such as a feather or a leaf)
- The players are in a circle and the treasure chest is passed around the circle.
- When the treasure chest is passed the player holding the box says a letter spelling out T-R-I-G-G-E-R. e.g. the first person says “T” and passes the chest to the next person who says “R” etc.
- Whoever has the chest on the last letter reaches in and pulls out a trigger.
- A discussion occurs about the trigger (what it is; how to avoid it; trouble shooting etc)
- Then the players start passing the treasure chest again, spelling out whatever that trigger was
- eg. C-A-T
- Repeat until the chest is empty.
This idea came from the Ontario Public Health School Asthma Project.
