Introduction
Introduction
Purpose
The following learning activities and games are designed to:
- help make learning fun
- promote problem solving
- review important objectives
- practice important action in a safe setting
A Necessary Variety
These learning activities address the developmental needs of school-age children. We recognize that every child is different and develops at different rates. As well, elementary school spans a wide age range.
Choose learning activities that best match the age of the children, the group dynamics and your personal teaching preferences. Ensure that you:
- clearly introduce and explain each learning activity
- demonstration how it is played (preferably with help from Puff)
- explain the purpose or objective of the game
At the end of each activity, ask them what the point of the game was or what they learned. Refer to the Optional Games section for more details.
Sharing Ideas
A number of the activities have been developed by RAP instructors who have provided their creative ideas for use by other instructors. If you develop a RAP activity, or modify an existing one, please submit your ideas so we can share them with other instructors. Be sure to include the name and organization of the authors so we can properly acknowledge them.
