Encourage children to describe appearance and function of the airways in their lungs.
What do you think your airways in your lungs look like? Can anyone think of any examples?
Encourage discussion. Examples include a water pipe, highway, hallway, etc.
What do we need our airways for?

Airways Learning Activities
Today we are going to discover what Puff’s airways look like.
These learning activities help children recognize an airway without asthma symptoms and an airway after exposure to triggers.
Refer to Learning Activities and Games for more information, including suggested learning activities such as:
- Haunted airways (you can use "mucous" to make it more authentic)
- Dinosaur air tubes
- Create airways
- Edible airways
- Make a lung model
- Discuss a poster of a normal airway and an airway with asthma
How can you stop an airway from becoming clogged?
Encourage summary discussion on trigger control. If appropriate, have the children label their airways, then collect the airways for return to the children during the next class.
